Karachi, Oct. 28 : At least seven Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed in a terrorist attack at a checkpost of northeast of South Waziristan’s Angoor Adda which is situated near the Pakistan-Afghan border.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the terrorists opened heavy fire from across the Pak-Afghan border, reported the Dawn.
North and South Waziristan are among Pakistan’s seven tribal districts near the Afghan border which are the home ground for many insurgents and are strongholds of Taliban and Al Qaeda operatives.
The Pakistan Army had launched military operations Zarb-i-Azb and the National Action Plan targeting insurgents in these area following attacks on Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport and Peshawar’s Army Public School in 2014 respectively.
According to the government, over 3,000 militants have been killed since the launch of these two operations. (ANI)
