Seven killed in three separate flyover accidents

Hyderabad, November 04: Seven people, including four members of a family, died in three separate ghastly mishaps on different flyovers in the city since Tuesday night.

Incidentally, the three mishaps took place reportedly due to the rash and negligent driving of the motorists and non-adherence to rules.

A ghastly accident led to the death of four persons of a family including a four-year-old girl, when the motorcycle on which they were travelling collided head-on with a tipper on the newly opened Madhapur flyover on Wednesday afternoon.

The mishap occurred when the driver of the Suzuki Samurai took a U-turn on the flyover and was proceeding on the wrong side of the road.

The deceased, N Mallesh (28), a mason, his wife Lakshmi (23), their daughter Ashwini (4) and Mallesh’s cousin, Suryanarayana (30), were natives of Srikakulam district. Mallesh’s family was residing at the Ayyappa Society in Madhapur.

Police said Mallesh had planned to send Lakshmi to her native place for Diwali. Around 2.30 pm, all of them started for the Hi-tec City railway station.

Suryanarayana, on a visit to Mallesh’s house, also joined the family.

All four set off on the bike and as they reached near Meridian School, Mallesh got onto the flyover. After crossing the divider, he took a U-turn to cross onto the wrong side.

“A tipper coming from the opposite side rammed into the two-wheeler at high speed killing all of them instantly,” Madhapur police said. The driver of the tipper (AP 12-U 9280) fled from the scene after the incident.

Madhapur police inspector K Srinath Reddy said the tipper was owned by Anjaiah of Shamshabad and efforts were on to nab the driver.

Meanwhile, two youngsters died on the YMCA flyover after their two-wheeler was hit by a speeding cab late on Tuesday night. The victims, PB Sridharan and his friend, Alfred Emanuel Decroz were both aged around 20 years. Sridharan was a SSC student while Alfred Emanuel was pursuing first-year BCom from a private college.

According to police, the duo were travelling towards Punjagutta when a cab coming from opposite direction hit them. Alfred Emanuel was flung into the air on impact. He fell from the flyover in front of the MCH swimming pool gate and the duo died instantly.

The cab driver fled from the spot. On Chandrayangutta flyover, K Naveen Kumar, an engineering student from Rajendranagar, rammed his bike into a median and died instantly.

He was returning home after dropping his friend. Naveen reportedly lost control over his bike, police said.
