Chandigarh, August 27: A special court of CBI awarded a punishment of 18 months to an army medal winner colonel along with 6 other army personnel in a 17 year old fake purchasing case.
Judge Darshan Singh found all 7 people including the material supplier guilty and sentenced an imprisonment of 18 months.
The court imposed fine on convicts Brigade Ordinance Officer Captain Sudhir Pujari Rs. 25000, Captain Suresh Hingorani and Havaldar S.G. Kulkarni with 12 thousand each whereas Auditor Anil Dalal, Colonel K.K. Pandey and Major D.K. Rai were slapped fine of 6 thousand rupees each. Owner of United Trading Co. and S.K. Enterprises, Mr. Naresh Chaddha was imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000.
The prosecution alleged the accused people were using fake company bills though there was no delivery of goods. CBI had filed four different cases in the year 1992 against the accused people and also submitted a chargesheet in the year 1993. According to the investigating team counterfeit checks of Rs.5 lakh 65 thousand, 1 lakh 63 thousand, 2 lakh 83 thousand and 2 lakh 1 thousand each were made in the year 1990. Found guilty in this case Colonel Pandey has been awarded with an Army Medal post the war in 1971.
