Elaborate arrangements have been made for the peaceful conduct of polling for by-elections for Narayankhed Assembly constituency in Medak district on Saturday from 7 AM to 5 PM.
Polling was necessitated due to the demise of sitting Congress legislator P. Kishta Reddy in August 2015.
Although there are eight candidates in the fray, the main contest is between P. Sanjeeva Reddy, son of Kishta Reddy, from Congress, M. Vijayapal Reddy from Telugu Desam and M. Bhupal Reddy from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
While the TRS is hoping to win the by-elections on the promise of development, Congress is banking on sympathy wave for Sanjeeva Reddy, son of Kista Reddy.
The counting of votes and announcement of results will take place on February 16. (INN)
