Services will be rewarded, Congress men told

Hyderabad, March 28: Acknowledging the services rendered by various party workers to the Congress, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said he would ensure that their sincere efforts were suitably rewarded.

He was indirectly referring to vacant nominated posts in various corporations and boards in the State.

Addressing a gathering at the Gandhi Bhavan this evening to felicitate senior leader D Srinivas who completed two years as APCC chief, Rosaiah said Srinivas was fortunate to hold such an important post in a party with a 125-year history.

Whether in or out of power, the Congress had always been close to the people, he said.

On his assumption of chief ministership, he said it was “in unforeseen circumstances and at the direction of party president Sonia Gandhi. There are many workers not getting posts despite their efforts to strengthen the Congress. I am thinking of giving recognition to such strivers.’’ Without mentioning Telangana by name, Rosaiah said it would be better to leave such problems in the hands of Sonia Gandhi since she would come up with solutions acceptable to one and all.

People had voted Congress because they trusted her leadership, he said.

As for the APCC chief, he asserted that he would follow the directions of the Congress president till his last breath. “All should take Sonia Gandhi as an example since she has sacrificed posts like prime minister and had focused on strengthening the party. My life’s ambition was fulfilled when I became the PCC president, but becoming popular among the people is more important than the posts,’’ Srinivas stressed.

Senior Congress leaders N Janardhan Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao, M Satyanarayana Rao, Narsa Reddy and MA Aziz, ministers J Geeta Reddy and V Sunitha Laxma Reddy, and PCC officebearers were present on the occasion.
