Hyderabad, April 14: It is a general complaint of Hajj applicants of Andhra Pradesh State Hajj Committee who intend to perform Hajj 2011 that only those persons’ applications are accepted who have sources and influence.
The Central Hajj Committee had announced to allot seats to the Hajj aspirants above 70 years of age relieving them from draw. Following the announced only those septuagenarians’ applications are accepted by the state Hajj committee, who possess passports.
However Hajj Committee Chairman on Wednesday accepted applications of 20 to 25 applicants who didn’t have passports and sent them to Central Hajj Committee and they were allotted seats under reserved category.
According to the reports received from Hajj Committee, applications of Hajj aspirants belonging to Mahboob Nagar, Nizamabad and other districts were accepted without passports while the applications of intending Hajj pilgrims of the city are rejected for the reason that they didn’t have passports.
An elderly applicant regretting the rejection of application said “it has been announced by the Hajj committee itself that a special counter will be setup on April 19, inspite of that not accepting the application is synonymous to injustice.”
Another applicant strongly criticizing upon the attitude of Hajj committee said “it seems as if it is not possible to get a reserved seat without any recommendation as it is clear that those applicants who have good relations with Hajj committee chairman or any middle man their applications are accepted and sent to the Central Hajj committee.”
