Separate Family Court for Muslims demanded

Mr. Shaik Mohammed Iqbal, IPS, Special Officer of APS Wakf Board assured that he will invite the attention of the Govt. for the formation of separate Family Court for Muslims so that many Muslim Women could get benefit out of it. He told it to a delegation consisting of Mr. Mohammed Farooq Ali Khan, Advocate (General Secretary), Mr. Nayeemullah Shareef (Convener), Mr. Mirza Yousuf Baig (Convener) and Mr. Zahoor Ahmed Advocate. The delegation submitted a detailed memorandum to Mr. Iqbal which consists of various suggestions. The delegation pointed out that the ancient Qazi act of 1880 is full of defects. It created problems due to the hereditary system of appointments of Qazis. Due to this act Govt. was prevented from taking any action. They demanded cancellation of Qazi act of 1880.

Mr. Iqbal elicited the details of marriage and dissolution of marriage. The delegation stressed upon the Wakf Board the importance of Family Court. They pointed out that Wakf Board is concentrating only on increasing its income through Wakf properties. Mr. Iqbal requested the tenants of Wakf properties to enhance rents so that the increased income could be utilized for the welfare of Muslims.
