Hyderabad: Education Department has decided to form separate Directorate for SC, ST, BC and Minority Residential Schools. According to reliable sources keeping in view the growing demand for a separate directorate, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has given approval for formation of separate Directorate to bring arrangements of all schools related to social welfare under one umbrella. The directorate will govern all schools falling under the category. Several higher officials will find place in the directorate including 4 IAS officers. A total of 1350 residential schools will work under the directorate.
The decision has come in the wake of various complaints received regarding the performance of minority schools. Complaints regarding substandard food and lack of furniture have been received. Students of are forced to sleep on floor due to lack of beds. Expired items are said to be used while cooking. Several parents have called back their wards from schools due to these reasons.
Teachers serving on sub contract are leaving schools as they have not been paid salaries for the past 3 months. Complaints have also been received that some non-Muslim principals and teachers are making the children recite Vande Mataram.
