London: United States President Barack Obama said that he has faith in America to not elect Donald Trump as his successor, as it was a ‘serious’ job adding that the people would make a ‘sensible choice in the end’.
According to the Guardian, Obama said that ‘foreign observers’ were troubled by the views being aired by Trump and it was troubling that he was trying to up the ante in anti-Muslim sentiment.
“Look at the statements that are being made by other candidates. There is not a single candidate in the Republican primary that thinks we should do anything about climate change. That’s a problem. The rest of the world look at that and says, ‘How can that be?” Obama said.
The President asserted that he believes Trump will not be president as he had faith in the American people to make the right choice.
“I think they recognise that being president is a serious job. It’s not hosting a talkshow or a reality show, it’s not promotion, it’s not marketing. It’s hard, and a lot of people count on us getting it right. The American people are pretty sensible, and I think they’ll make a sensible choice in the end,” Obama said. (ANI)
