Sensex opens higher by 117 points on firm global cues

Mumbai, April 05: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex gained 117 points, or 0.66 per cent, in opening trade on Monday on buying by foreign funds, which took cues from firm global markets.

The 30-share index rose by 117.88 points to 17,810.50 points.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty regained 5,300-level rising by 40.10 points, or 0.75 per cent, to 5,330.60 points.

Brokers said trading sentiment was largely buoyed by firming trend on the global markets after the biggest growth in the U.S. jobs in three years, raising recovery hopes for the world’s largest economy.
