Mumbai: Indian markets traded higher on Monday over a possible US-China trade deal.
US markets on Sunday closed modestly higher after leaders of both the country expressed desire to sign a trade deal.
The benchmark Sensex was up 190.98 points at 40,550.39 while the broader Nifty was trading higher at 11,973.85, up by 59.45 points.
Index-heavyweights like Reliance Industries and Infosys were trading nearly one percent higher. Overall, 32 of the Nifty’s 50 stocks advanced while 18 traded in the red.
Nifty metal stocks gained nearly 2 percent during the early trade while media stocks led by Zee Entertainment traded lower.
