A benchmark index of Indian equities markets Thursday gained 64.08 points or 0.25 percent as auto stocks surged.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government will be presenting its Budget later in the day.
Good buying was observed in auto, capital goods and consumer durables sectors, while selling pressure was seen in healthcare sector.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 25,513.74 points, was trading at 25,508.89 points (at 09.15 a.m.) in the early session, up 64.08 points or 0.25 percent from the previous day’s close at 25,444.81 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 25,513.74 points and a low of 25,504.34 points in trade.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading flat at 0.90 points or 0.01 percent up at 7,585.90 points.IANS
