Sensex ends up 134 pts, Nifty misses 8400; Coal India up

New Delhi : The market on Monday closed with the Sensex ending up 133.85 points or 0.5 percent at 27278.76, and the Nifty ended up 42.35 points or 0.5 percent at 8370.70.

Shares such as BHEL, Adani Ports, ICICI Bank, ONGC and Coal India were top gainers while ITC, Dr Reddy’, Bajaj Auto, HUL and TCS were losers in the Sensex.

Shares of Coal India rose over two percent intraday as Nomura has a buy rating with a target price of Rs. 345 per share. Coal India’s production and off-take in June 2016 was up 10 percent and 6.6 percent on annual basis respectively, sharply rising in past two months.

Textile-to-retail conglomerate Arvind today said it plans to raise Rs. 500 crore through issuance of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) on a private placement basis.

In a notice for annual general meeting it said that in order to meet the financial needs of the company, it makes an offer of NCDs or invite subscriptions to NCDs on private placement basis in one or more tranches for an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs. 500 crore. (ANI)
