Sensex edges lower in early trade

Mumbai, January 28: A benchmark index for Indian equities markets started trade on a dull note Friday morning and edged lower than its previous close.The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,708.62 points, was ruling at 18,640.8 points, down 43.63 points or 0.43 percent from its previous close at 18,684.43 points.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange edged lower green, trading 0.32 percent down at 5,586.35 points.

Broader markets were ruling lower as well with the BSE midcap index down 0.7 percent and the BSE smallcap index 0.26 percent lower.
