Sensex bounce back at noon

Mumbai, August 16: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex erased early losses to trade higher by nearly 37 points at Monday noon buying in bluechip stocks available at lower levels.

The 30-share index rose by 36.89 points to 18,203.92 points following a rise in stocks of Reliance Industries and Hero Honda.

The broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty also edged up by 13.15 points to 5,465.25 points at the same time. It had opened lower at 5,442.80 points.

Brokers said fresh buying in bluechip stocks by funds helped the Sensex recover early losses.

Market leader Reliance Industries rose by 4.45 to Rs 983.50 while Hero Honda gained Rs 22.70 to trade at Rs 1,907 at noon.

The BSE benchmark had opened lower by 73 points after weak global trends.
