Sensex at 20,000, nifty crosses 6k

Mumbai, September 21: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex hit the 32-month high in the opening session on Tuesday.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) zoomed to 174 points in the opening trade and crossed the 20000 level. This is the record jump after January 2008. The BSE Sensex is trading at 20,080.74 points at this moment.

The National stock exchange Nifty-50 also surged to 6000 level with 52 points jump soon after the trading commenced on Tuesday. Nifty was doing the business at 6032.01 points.

The January-September FII inflow has pushed the new life in Indian equity market.

Experts said that Investors should not try the time to market. Investors should look for good opportunities in the market.

Around 75 stocks hit new high in the Indian market. ITC, L&T and ACC among eight stocks jumped to new high at Nifty.

Indian equities on Monday closed 327 points higher, bringing it within striking distance of the 20,000-mark. Heavyweight scrips like ITC, Hindustan Unilever and HDFC were among the top gainers.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 19,445.2 points, closed at 19,922.3 points (provisional), 327.55 points or 1.67 percent up from its previous close at 19,594.75 points.

The Sensex rose to an intra-day high of 19,927.3 points.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty moved up 1.76 percent to 5,988.5 points.

Broader market indices also ended in the green. The BSE midcap was 0.61 percent up and the BSE smallcap index was 0.72 percent higher.
