Kasaragod, October 06: Senior CPI-M leader M Ramanna Rai, who represented the Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency for three terms, died today at a private hospital due to age related ailments, family sources said. Ramanna Rai, 79, was undergoing treatment for the last one month.
He was admitted to the hospital yesterday after his condition turned worse. Ramanna Rai was elected from Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency of north Kerala in 1980, ”89 and ”91.
In a message, CPI-M Kerala state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said Rai had played a crucial role in establishing and strengthening the Communist movement in the northern district of Kerala. Rai was also a great parliamentarian and was active in the co-operative movement, he said.
