Position Summary:

SIR Corp. will be embarking on an aggressive renovation plan; one that will see the brand grow over the next five years. The defined roles of Construction Manager, Director of Construction and Director of Facilities have been created to help lead, develop and manage this important initiative.

Reporting directly to the Director of Construction, the Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for on site management of the scope, budget and schedule of all renovation and upgrade projects for SIR Corp. brands that include: Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill, SCADDABUSH Italian Kitchen & Bar and the Signature group (REDS Wine Tavern, DUKES Refresher, The Loose Moose, Abbey’s and Canyon Creek). Providing on site leadership to vendors and team members that will result in meeting the budget, tight schedule and delivering the scope in a seamless manner is the key to success.

This role will see frequent meetings and direct contact with our senior team members: Concept Leads, Regional Directors and Culinary teams – as a result, timely sharing of information and communication is an important skillset required of this role.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Construction Manager will:

Manage the site construction process, coordinating consultants, trades and suppliers and ensuring all relevant internal and external stakeholders have the information they require to ensure final scope is reflective of the desired project deliverables.
Ensure that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, design drawings and applicable codes, to deliver high quality execution.
Source trades and sub-trades for each project and provide relevant cost estimations and assist in the preparation of budget and schedule for approval, review tenders and prepare all necessary and relevant construction documents.
Supervise trades and sub-traders, lead daily on-site project meetings with appropriate stakeholders and maintain a thorough Superintendent’s daily report that accurately tracks construction site progress, events, inspections (SIR Corp., City and Municipal), and other relevant information and provide all necessary information in a timely manner to Director of Construction
Ensuring timely information is shared as appropriate with restaurant operations, culinary, training and IT to aid in seamless execution, driving proper communication and planning, ensuring ‘no surprises’. Coordinate with LL property management as required throughout the project.
Manage and direct the Construction Site trades and vendors to ensure delivery and installation of materials, scope any deficiencies and cost while adhering to schedule and ensuring compliance to all Health and Safety standards (with all employees and subcontractors on the project).
Requirements

This position requires an advanced level of initiative and judgement in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workloads and projects.

Post-secondary education with courses in construction management an asset; greater than ten years of hospitality construction experience or equivalent
Advanced knowledge of construction disciplines, an ability to interpret drawings with analytical and problem solving skills, understand safety regulations, scheduling, project cost estimation, cost control, quality control, and MEP scope
Extensive knowledge of bar and kitchen equipment costs for hospitality builds and renovations
Ability to manage ambiguity, providing solutions by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required.
A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, tight deadlines and is adaptable to multiple changes on site and with priorities.
Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents and emails and provides technical information to fellow colleagues in a clear and understandable manner.
Contract/subcontract management including management of tender process and issuance of RFQ/RFPs
The ability to negotiate and work with vendors
Knowledge of CAD an asset
Knowledge of Microsoft Project an asset
This position requires up to 40% travel within the GTA
