Hyderabad, June.2 (NSS): The Telangana Senior Citizens’ Association has decided to campaign for victory of TRS candidate in Parakala by-elections in Warangal district.
Speaking to the media here, Association president Prof. N Sridhar Swamy said that the executive meeting held on May 30 had discussed the present political situation, Parakala by-election and lull in Telangana agitation after death of Prof. Jayashanker. “We have also decided to release a pamphlet appealing to the Parakala voters to exercise their franchise in favour of TRS and also send a team to participate in the election campaigning in Parakala constituency”.
Stating that the present by-elections were crucial, he pointed out that 16 candidates, mostly from Telangana region, were in the fray after withdrawal of nominations. The multi-cornered contest may split the Telangana votes, Sridhar Swamy said.
“We should teach a fitting lesson to the Seemandhra supporters, who were in the election fray in the mask of Telangana candidates, he added. He reminded that Konda Surekha and her husband Murali were responsible for a violent incident at Manukota in which several Telangana students severely injured.
He welcomed the decision of the TJAC to support the TRS candidate in the Parakala by-election. Members of Telangana senior citizens association had either directly or indirectly had links with Telangana agitation since 1969.
Coming down heavily against the BJP, Prof Sridhar Swamy reminded that the BJP has assured to examine the ‘T’ issue, if it came to power. The BJP, which gained Nizamabad seat with marginal votes, was now thinking of winning all the constituencies in Telangana region, he alleged. It was the BJP only, which gained mileage from Telangana agitation. He also criticized the BJP for not launching Jai Andhra movement in Seemandhra region.
“Under the circumstances, the voters of Parakala should cast their vote to TRS candidate M Bixapathi”, he appealed.
The Association vice-president Chanda Ramulu, general secretary V Chalapathi Rao and Treasurer P Jaganmohan Rao were also present. (NSS)
