Bharatiya Janata Party suffered an embarrasement on the eve of Monsoon session when senior party leader and BJPMP from Kangra Himachal Pradesh,Shanta Kumar wrote a letter to party President Amit Shah asking to set up an ethics committee to keep a tab on party leaders.
Dated July 10, Shanta Kumar published the letter on his Twitter and Facebook pages. Kumar has in his stern letter written to the BJP president said that the Vyapam scamin Madhya Pradesh has ‘made us all bow our heads in shame’.
Referring to the controversies surrounding Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Maharashtra Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde, he suggested the need for a ‘Lokpal’ to ‘keep a check on leaders in the government’.
Shanta Kumar on Tuesday said that he stands by every word of his letter.
“I have written a letter to my national president of the party. And I stand by every word of my letter. Whatever I had to say, I have written in my letter. That’s all,” he told ANI.
The 80-year-old lawmaker from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, however, said that he has not received any response yet.
