Mumbai:Needling the PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir over violence after the killing of Burhan Wani, the Shiv Sena today sought to know the stand of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on the Hizbul militant commander and said it fears whether BJP has been right in giving her the reigns of the state.
“Mehbooba Mufti is superficially appealing for peace in Jammu and Kashmir. But she has to first state her position on the killed militant Burhan Wani. She is the same person who has in the past said that Afzal Guru was a revolutionary or a freedom fighter for Pakistan,” an editorial in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ said.
“We fear if the BJP has taken the right decision by giving Mufti the reigns of the state looking at her past record,” it said.
The ruling alliance partner also said those indulging in violence in the Valley are getting discreet support from Pakistan and that the neighbouring country is responsible for the hostile situation prevalent there.
“If that wasn’t the case, Pakistan would not have shed tears over the killing of Burhan Wani,” the Sena said.
Twenty four people have so far lost their lives in the violent clashes between protesters and security forces in the Valley following the killing of Wani.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people of the state to maintain calm so that the situation can normalise there.
