New Delhi, April 18: Discourse on preserving and celebrating heritage dominated the day as conservationists and heritage lovers today gathered at a series of exhibitions and seminars to observe the World Heritage Day.
The Indian National Trust for Art and Culture (INTACH) marked the day by releasing its publication ‘Hands on Heritage’ in regional languages.
The importance of heritage conservation was also discussed at the third Pupul Jayakar Memorial Lecture delivered by Deepak Nayyar on ‘Rethinking Heritage and Restoration: Discovering a Small Inheritance’ at the Alliance Francaise Auditorium.
Celebrating the legacy of Delhi’s most loved poet Mirza Ghalib, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture marked the day with an exhibitions and film on the Urdu poetry legend.
While a group of heritage volunteers from the Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti staged a play on the 19th century poet, a film by Sohrab Modi and Ghazal recital by Begum Muneer Khatoon enthralled Ghalib lovers.
