Seminar on ‘technology and food security’ in Hyd tomorrow

Hyderabad, September 03: A seminar with a session on ‘Role of Technology In Ensuring Food Security’ will be organised at Hotel Taj Krishna, tomorrow.

The session will also highlight the potential and benefits that plant sciences and agri biotechnology can deliver. The seminar will also deliberate on solutions that may address the issue of food insecurity in developing countries including India, a press release issued here said.

Other key topics to be discussed are farmers problems and needs, Role of Technology in improving farmers economic viability and facilitating food security, limitations of traditional breeding technology, innovations in agri bio technology, genetic diversity in plant bio technology.

The speakers who would address the seminar include Dr Ashok Gulati, director in Asia International Food Policy Research Institute, K R Kishore, Principal Secretary, agricultural cooperation and marketing department, government of Andhra Pradesh, among others.
