Seminar on ‘OU History, Culture and Prospects’ in city on May 22 & 23

The Telangana Minorities Welfare Department and the Telangana State Urdu Academy are jointly organizing various cultural and literary programs in connection with the Centenary celebrations of the Osmania University during the year. To begin with, a two-day National Seminar on ‘Osmania University – History, Culture and Prospects’ is being organized on May 22 and 23 at The Plaza, Greenlands, Begumpet, near Chief Minister’s Camp Office.

           

Speaking to the media here today A. K. Khan, Advisor to Government, Minority Welfare, gave details of the centenary celebrations program and said Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali will preside over the inaugural session, being held at 10.30 am on May 22.  Besides A.K. Khan, IPS, Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary to Government Minorities Welfare Department, Prof. Sulaiman Siddiqui, former VC of Osmania University and Nawab Fazal Jah (son of Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur) will be the chief guests. Prof. Anwar Mouazzam, former Head, Department of Islamic Studies, OU, will deliver keynote address.

AK Khan said a grand ‘Shaam-e-gazal’ program will be organized on May 25 at 7pm at Lalitha Kala Thornam, Public Gardens, Nampally, with eminent Gazal Singer Pankaj Udhas giving heart-rending performance. Local singers will also participate in the program. Prof. S. A. Shukoor, convener of the Seminar and Shaam-e-Gazal appealed to Urdu lovers and students, faculty and alumnae of the University to participate in the programs. (NSS)
