Seminar on Iqbal in Bidar

Jasmine Pre-University College, Bidar organized a seminar on ‘Iqbal-Poet and Philosopher with the financial assistance from National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, New Delhi.

Prof. Abdul Hameed, former Dean of Faculty of Arts and former Head of the Dept. of Urdu and Persian of Gulbarga University inaugurated the seminar.

Dr. Hashmath Fathihakhani, Head of the Dept. of Urdu, Karnataka College, Bidar, Dr. Nageshawara Rao from Hyderabad, Mr. A. Shafee Ahmed and others were the guests. Mr. Shaik Abdul Mueed, Lecturer, P.G. Centre, Bidar was the coordinator of the seminar.

Dr. Hashmath Fatihakhani presided over the inaugural function. Ms. Ayesha Siddiqua recited the Quranic verses. Prof. Abdul Hameed presented Naath-e-Shareef. Mr. A. Shafee Ahmed welcomed the guests and the audience. Dr. Nageshwara Rao expressed his views on Iqbal in a very impressive manner. The key note address was delivered by Prof. Abdul Hameed in which he dealt with the personality and poetry of Dr. Sir Mohammed Iqbal. He presented the poems of Iqbal from various perspectives.

The second session was presided over by Prof. Abdul Hameed in which 15 research scholars presented their papers on various topics. Ms. Ayesha Siddiqua presented her paper on Dr. Iqbal’s poem “Shua-e-Umeed”. Ms. Rubeena Sultana spoke on Iqbal’s concept of Shaheen and Ms. Rubeena Nikhat on Dr. Iqbal as a poet with refrence to “Baang-e-Dara”. The Chairman of the session congratulated the research scholars for their scholarly expositions.
