With self created economic resources basic amenities could be provided – Somesh Kumar

Hyderabad: Commissioner of GHMC, while addressing the students of Suprasiddha Indian Institute of Management, Bangaluru on “GHMC – A unique example in Municipalities of the country for raising income” told that effective planning and use of latest technology facilitated providing basic amenities to people. As a result of which the income of the GHMC was raised.

He further told that GHMC collected Rs. 365 crore as taxes without enhancing the taxes from 2000 to 2010.

On the occasion of the inauguration of smart cities program, PM of India and others have applauded the functioning of GHMC. Giving the details of the facilities, Mr. Somesh Kumar told that computerization of properties, facilities of payment of taxes through 537 branches of banks, 18 Seva Kendras and the collection of taxes through hand bill machines provided to the Collectors helped GHMC in collection of taxes. He also informed that Mr. KCR has formulated a plan to develop roads in GHMC with a estimate of Rs. 21 thousand crore. He hoped that very soon Hyderabad will get the status of smart city. In order to make Hyderabad a slum free city, two lakh double bedroom houses would be constructed very soon.
