Union minister for urban development M Venkaiah Naidu today said the process of selection of smart cities has been completed and it will be announced officially by October 1.
Addressing a meeting of Municipal chairpersons, Vice-chairmen, corporators, and councilors at BJP State office at Nampally here on Sunday, the Union Minister said 500 cities have been selected across the country under “Amrut” scheme. He said Rs 200 crore would be spent on each city for its development. He said the 11 cities selected in Telangana State are: Hyderabad, Khammam, Warangal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Ramagundam, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Adilabad, Suryapet and Miryalguda. Siddipet in Medak district is also under consideration under the scheme, the Union minister said, adding that all States are equal for the Centre and it was aim of the Centre to work as Team India. He also disclosed that incomplete houses built under Rajiv Awas Yojana would be constructed afresh. (NSS)
