Sehwag ruled out of IPL with shoulder injury

New Delhi, May 09: Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches this season, as he will undergo a surgery on his injured shoulder in London.

Australian all-rounder James Hopes has been appointed the skipper in Sehwag”s place for the remaining three matches.

“Sehwag will be proceeding to England for the surgery and Hopes has been given the responsibility of leading the team in the remaining matches. We will miss Sehwag. But he has to undergo the surgery and that is why he will not take any further part in the IPL,” said Delhi Daredevils CEO Amrit Mathur.

Sehwag has scored well in this season of IPL, bagging the Orange Cap for the top-run getter, but his team”s performance has been average.

He has scored 424 runs at an average of 38.54 in 11 matches. Delhi Daredevils are currently placed seventh in the points table.
