New Delhi, August 25: DDCA president Arun Jaitley has agreed to have fair selection process and root out the alleged nepotism in the functioning of the Jaitley body.
The DDCA president was addressing a press conference on Tuesday after the scheduled meeting with Virender Sehwag to resolve the stand-off with the senior players.
“We were not adverse to the suggestions made the players, some of them are very good. Our principal concern was to make sure the selection process should be fair,” said Jaitley.
“There were some suggestions made in regard to having a cricketing advisory board with former players, which we have accepted,” added the DDCA president.
“We need to shortlist the individual who can fit into this role,” he added.
The DDCA has also accepted to host pre-season events as proposed by players.
Speaking to the media, Jaitley said, “I hope every one will be together after the meeting and Delhi Team will be a happy one unit.”
Jaitley announced the following measures to end the much publicized rift between Delhi’s senior players and DDCA.
1.The size of selection committee will be reduced.
2. Sports Secretary of DDCA will ensure that the performance during inter club matches will be taken into account while selecting the probables.
3. Accountability of all will be fixed.
4. Zero tolerance for interference in selection matters.
Earlier, Sehwag, who is leading the national capital team in the domestic series, had triggered of a virtual players’ revolt against DDCA administrators,
Sehwag also threatened to quit the Delhi Ranji team in protest against alleged nepotism and corruption in the DDCA’s selection committee, but two former players persuaded him to keep the decision on hold till the meeting with Jaitley.
Co-players Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma and Ashish Nehra also stood with Sehwag in this protest.
