Seemandhra leaders vow to fight unitedly

The leaders of different political parties and pro-united Andhra Pradesh organisations on Saturday resolved to fight unitedly to stop the proposed bifurcation of the State.

Leaders belonging to different parties took part in an meeting organised by the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers (APNGOs) Association. TDP MPs YS Choudhary, K Narayana and CM Ramesh and MLAs P Keshav and KE Prabhakar; State Minister S Sailajanath and Congress MP Sabbam Hari, CPI (M) leaders Veeraiah and Y Venkateshwara Rao and other leaders participated in the meeting held at the APNGOs Bhavan here.

Speaking to media persons later, APNGOs chief Ashok Babu said that all the leaders from the Seemandhra region, across party lines, have agreed to launch a joint struggle to keep the State united. He said that the Seemandhra leaders would soon meet President of India seeking his intervention in stopping the bifurcation. He said all 158 MLAs from Seemandhra region would oppose the Telangana Bill in the State Legislative Assembly.

Minister Sailajanath said that the situation in the State was highly fragile and leaders should work together by keeping aside political flags and agenda. He said unity of leaders was the only solution to stop State’s division.

TDP MLA Keshav said that the Bill would be strongly opposed and defeated in the Legislative Assembly. (INN)
