Hyderabad, February 01: With an announcement on separate Telangana by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram likely tomorrow afternoon, the police have stepped up the security in the city in anticipation of trouble by pro-Telangana activists.
Security around the Osmania University, the hotbed of Telangana agitation, has been enhanced and police forces, including the CRPF, deployed at all points of entry to the campus have been placed on alert. Barbed wire fencing has been erected at the entrances and vehicular movement via the campus may not be allowed tomorrow before Chidambaram’s statement which is scheduled around 1 pm.
