Security stepped up in Ghaziabad ahead of R-Day

Ghaziabad:In view of high alert across the country ahead of the Republic Day, security has been heightened in the city including at metro and railway stations and bus stands and varius other public places.

Security at metro stations, bus stands, railway stations has been stepped up and mock-drills are also being conducted at various malls in the city and Sahibabad to assess the preparedness of the security forces, Superintendent of Police (City) Ajay Pal Sharma said.

Sharma further added that police check-posts and bunkers are also erected to check all vehicles passing through the interstate borders like the Delhi-UP borders, at four places in the district, and they will be sealed 24 hours prior to the Republic Day parade.

The identities of persons travelling in light and heavy vehicles will be verified. Their vehicles will also be searched by the security forces. The movement of heavy vehicles across the border will be stopped from Monday midnight, police said.

Metro station vehicle parking at Vaishali and Kaushambi will be closed from 2 pm onwards on January 25 till 2 pm on January 26.

Police teams on the roads have been specifically instructed to keep a hawk’s eye on suspicious movement of any vehicle, they said.
