Security stepped up in all Rly stations in State

In the wake of twin blasts occurred in Bangalore-Guwahati Express train in Chennai Central on Thursday morning, the GRP police personnel carried out extensive searches in all the railway stations in the city as a precautionary measure.
The GRP personnel, under the supervision of Secunderabad Railway SP Chandrasekhara Reddy and DSP Muralidhar, thoroughly checked the Secunderabad Railway Station with the help of bomb disposal squads. The policemen thoroughly checked all trains, railway platforms and luggages of the passengers. Inspector Anjaneyulu, SIs and constables participated in the combing task.
Speaking to the media, Chandrasekhara Reddy said similar checks will be carried out by the GRP police personnel every day in Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Hyderabad Railway stations. “We routinely conduct checks and searches at railway stations. However, following the bomb explosions at Chennai railway station, we have intensified the checking at Secunderabad and Nampally railway stations here besides at Warangal and Kazipet and other railway stations”, the SP said.
Meanwhile, in view of BJP’s Prime Ministerial nominee Narendra Modi’s election tour to Guntur, Nellore, Narsapur and Visakhapatnam, railway police personnel were asked to be on extra alert. A bag containing fire-crackers covered with thread was found outside the Vijayawada railway station.
“Our BD team found two abandoned bags and after verification of the same at least 15 fire-crackers covered with thread were recovered from the bags. It seems due to the intensity of checking at the railway station, the persons who were carrying the bags left them outside,” Superintendent of Police (Vijayawada Division) Ch Syam Prasad said. (NSS)
