In view of the attack on Pakistani National Sanaullah by co-prisoners, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India has issued instructions to all the states to ensure the security of Pakistani prisoners in the respective states. On receiving these instructions, the security arrangements of the Pakistani prisoners in the state have been increased.
The officials of the Dept. of Prisons, AP told that a Pakistani prisoner Aashiq Ali alias Shah Nabeel Tahir is imprisoned in Cherlapally jail for a long time. His security has been enhanced and he has been kept separately from the other Indian prisoners. Aashiq Ali belongs to Ahmedia sect. He was imprisoned on 26 January 2002 in Nizamabad District under the charges of espionage. He belongs to sindh region. He was working for ISI secret agency of Pakistan. He had kept an eye on the movements of army and the locations of defence organizations. He was furnishing information to higher officials of Pakistan.
Photographs of Defence organization were seized from his possession when he was arrested. He was continuing his activities from Ibadat Khana Ahmedia located at Afzal Gunj. The local Govt. had pronounced life imprisonment for him after his conviction. He has been staying in various prisons of AP for the past 13 years. In the same manner another Pakistani National by name Arshad Malik is also imprisoned in Vishakapatnam jail for a long time. He has the charges of staying beyond the duration of his visa. He also faces the allegations of espionage. Arshad Malik was shifted from Cherlapally jail to Vishakapatnam jail, one and a half year back. The officials of prison refused to divulge any information about these Pakistani prisoners because their security is a very sensitive issue. Inspector General of Prisons, Mr. Sunil Kumar said the security arrangements are being made for both these prisoners but the details cannot be exposed.
