Security of Haj pilgrims – Secretary Minorities Welfare writes to Commissioners of Police

Hyderabad: Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS wrote letters to Commissioners of Police of Hyderabad and Cyberabad quoting the letter received from Central Ministry of Minority Affairs and requested them to provide security to Haj pilgrims as per the guidelines.

Security affairs pertaining to Haj House come under the purview of Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad whereas the arrangements at the airport are the responsibility of the Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad.

It may be mentioned that Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India had written a letter to Chief Secretary in the wake of the threats posed by Gau Rakshaks. Chief Secretary had already issued instructions to police for making necessary arrangements. Police officials of Abid Road Police Station visited Haj House and reviewed the security arrangements. Telangana State Haj Committee is also in contact with police officials whereas AP Haj Committee is negligent of their pilgrims. It has not taken any action so far.

It may be mentioned that A.P. Haj Committee is accommodating its Haj pilgrims in private hotels incurring huge costs.
