Manama, February 17: Security forces in Bahrain attacked demonstrators camped out in a square in central Manama square late on Wednesday night, witnesses say.
Police in Bahrain earlier on Thursday also used teargas to disperse protesters camped out in the capital Manama.
Earlier report: A military helicopter clatters overhead, its whirling blades doing its best to drown out the loudspeakers and chants of protest from more than 10,000 demonstrators gathered at this central traffic circle in the heart of this city.
A large, white concrete structure reaches for the sky, the Pearl Monument, a sign of prosperity of this island nation’s past, now a symbol of hope for the protesters who seek constitution, political and societal change.
