New Delhi, January 29: Following a fresh alert, security at the Delhi airport was increased Thursday evening and all flights checked, an official said.
Senior officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were informed that terrorists could target the airport in the evening.
According to sources, two terrorists arrested recently had revealed in their interrogation about a possible attack. “We had to check all the flights departing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.,” said a CISF official posted at Delhi airport.
The international airport across the country are already on high alert after the home ministry issued a alert last week stating that terrorists could target flights going to SAARC (The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries.
The specific threat has come when the airports and other parts of the capital are already on alert ahead of Republic Day.
“All the passengers of flights departing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. have to go through Secondary Ladder Point Checking (SLPC),” he added. SLPC is conducted when the threat is at its highest level and passengers have to go through with complete frisking just before entering the aircraft.
