New Delhi, March 22: Security at airports in Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram were today put on high alert following recovery of a crude bomb from the cargo hold area of a Kingfisher flight even as the Kerala police began probe into the matter with focus on “security lapses”.
The regional offices of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security have put the Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram airports on high alert and asked them to heighten security measures, official sources said.
Special instructions have also been given to airlines on cargo and baggage handling at these airports.
Police sources said in Thiruvananthapuram that the Bangalore police, Civil Aviation Department and Central Intelligence agencies would help in the investigations considering the seriousness of the case.
A three-member team led by Police Commissioner M R Ajaya Kumar has rushed to Bangalore to view the Close Circuit TV recordings at the airport.
