Nagpur, October 27: The security agencies today conducted a successful mock drill of plane hijack at the city airport, police said today.
A Kingfisher flight from Mumbai to Nagpur was hijacked midway and landed at city airport. Boeing 300 aircraft, carrying 135 passengers and seven crew members landed at the airport after the pilot informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) that the aircraft had been hijacked.
The hijackers demanded that four of their colleagues be released from Pune Jail, they be given USD 40 million and an aircraft to leave the country.
The anti-hijack machinery swung into action and city Commissioner of Police Praveen Dixit chaired the emergency meeting.
He also negotiated with the hijackers and agreed to provide an aircraft to them. As soon as the hijackers entered the plane, they were overpowered
