Hyderabad, February 18: Several ministers and senior officials had a taste of what kind of a nightmare it is to have power supply switched off. Entire Secretariat excluding the Chief Minister’s Office in C-block plunged into darkness for about 10 minutes after a 132 KV line connecting the sub-stations at Shapur and Yerragadda tripped this evening.
Ever since the Budget session commenced on Monday, many ministers including Chief Minister K Rosaiah and officials have been working till late in the evening for timely completion of their work.
At around 6.30 p.m. today, power supply to many buildings including Block A, B, C, D, J, K and H was cut down suddenly creating utter chaos inside the Secretariat. Power supplied was restored immediately to C Block where the Chief Minister’s Office is located, using generators. But all other blocks were blacked out completely for another 10 minutes.
According to the Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Limited (APCPDCL) officials, power is supplied to the Secretariat through a 132 KV line which connects the 132 KV sub-stations at Shapur, Yerragadda and Hussain Sagar. At around 6.30 p.m., the 132 KV line got broke down leading to power cut.
“The power supply was restored using alternative lines from Gachibowli and connected to Yerragadda sub-station,’’ the CPDCL officials said.
