Hyderabad, January 02: Though most of the ministers did not attend their offices, the State Secretariat bustled with activity today on the occasion of New Year Day.
Hundreds of officials, employees and others visited the place and extended their greetings to the heads of the departments.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah met new Governor ESL Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan and conveyed his wishes. Latter he received hundreds of officials and employees of the Secretariat who wished him a happy new year.
Most of the ministers met the Chief Minister at his residence early in the morning and later returned to their homes to receive their department’s officials, employees and leaders of their districts.
Employees of various directorates in the city thronged the Secretariat to greet their respective secretaries.
Hundreds of vehicles descended on the headquarters of State administration and the parking places were filled with them leaving no place empty. Those who came late found it difficult to find a place to park their vehicles. The parking lot and the open place before the C Block, where the Chief Minister’s Office is located were packed with vehicles.
However, the chief minister left the Secretariat before his scheduled departure. Though he was supposed to stay till 4.30 pm, had left two hours early for his home.
