Secret Lake to be a ‘recreational hub’ of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: After years of neglect by the authorities, Secret lake now is all set to get a makeover, to become an a recreational hub in Hyderabad.

The Durgam Cheruvu lakefront Development project is designed and financed by the K Raheja Corporation, whereas the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will undertake the development and The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) is assigned with the first phase, that is allotting land for the project, which is currently under process.

On Thursday, Mohammed Faisal, In-charge architect for the project plan said in an event in the city that, “The plan is to use all the existing elements and retain them while developing the lakefront. In order to cater to people of all age-groups, we have decided to build a play area and a butterfly park for children in addition to a 2.5 km long jogging and cycling track, a 3.2 metre-wide tree-lined promenade with yoga platforms located along it and lakefront cafes. The parking area will have a capacity of over 600 cars.”

Kishore Bhatija, MD, Real Estate Development of K Raheja Corp says about the project as, “We have put into place strict checks to ensure optimal utilization of resources and adherence to time-lines. We have already committed `2.5 crore towards this project and have agreed to fund the first two phases, which are expected to be completed in 12 months.”

The phase two of the project is the construction of the recreational park that would include cycling, walking and jogging tracks with benches and signboards in center area with other constructions for sports like rock climbing, kayaking.Play area for Children, with yoga corners, with stalls with barbeque arrangements and gaziboz for picnics.

The third phase will be construction of an amphitheatre which would accommodate 6,000 and more people, in collaboration with the GHMC,TSIIC and the irrigation Department, as reported in DC
