Mumbai, August 13: Malaika Arora would have never thought that the traditional lehenga choli she bought herself during one of her visit to Bihar will help her months later in depicting a character of an item girl opposite Salman bhai.Maliaka, who has done a raunchy item song Munni Badnam hui in her husband Arbaaz Khan’s film Dabangg has grabbed a lot of attention.
The song and its lyrics have a Bihari flavor that requires the actress to accordingly harmonize with it. This reminded Malaika of the outfit that she purchased from Bihar months ago and immediately showed it to her choreographer Farah Khan.
Farah nodded on the outfit and ordered the designer to prepare an exactly similar outfit for Maliaka but with much more embroidery and glitter touch in it.
Rick Roy, who designed the costume for Maliaka says, “Farah Khan briefed me on this outfit, the description being very authentic and rustic. Malaika helped me with an outfit she had once bought from a local Bihar vendor. I went to Bihar and got in touch with local karigars who did the traditional sujni embroidery for us. We made it a little more filmy and added glam to the outfit. The jewellery too was bought from a nautanki company in Bihar.”
