Hyderabad: Action has already been started against a bank manager and post office officials who was allegedly involved in exchange of demonetized currency. The needle of doubt is also pointing at the role of police officials. One such incident was brought to lime light when a police official snatched new currency threatening his subordinate by pointing his service revolver against them. It is also very surprising that within four hours of this incident, another complaint was registered against the same police official. Higher officials of police are making an attempt to conceal his name.
According to the reports a few days back a few persons gathered at a guest house at Film Nagar to purchase gold at the rate of Rs. 18000 per 10 gm. On receiving a tip, police raided the place and seized Re.1 lakh from these businessmen.
According to authentic sources, the police officer against whom complaints are being received is posted at Panjagutta area. However, police officials did not confirm it. A Congress leader is also said to be involved in the racket.
In another incident, a complaint was received wherein Rs. 12.5 lakh new currency was snatched when attempts were being made to exchange it with the old currency. The question now arises that how was the new currency made available in such large quantity. IT officials and CBI should investigate these incidents so that the credibility of Police Dept. is maintained.
