Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has called alliance for power a ‘minor issue’ in Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party poll pact. He said the past conflicts with BSP have never been a point of discussion during his meetings with Mayawati. SP-BSP would have to stop BJP from coming into power in the state, he added.
BJP had to face defeat by SP and BSP for Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. The pact for UP bypoll emerged as a success for the parties. According to experts, BJP may suffer major losses if BSP and SP join hands in the state.
In another address on Saturday, Yadav had launched a scathing attack on the Yogi Adityanath government, saying the state government has done no welfare work and has only been trying to give lies to the people and victimize political opponents.
“They have just been selling pipe dreams and inaugurating projects and schemes that were rolled out by the Samajwadi Party government,” said the former Chief Minister at a press conference.
He also alleged that efforts were made to taint his image by initiating a number of probes into developmental works done by his government.
