As directed by the Cyberabad police commissioner, the Meerpet police conducted cordon and search operation in the early hours of Sunday in Lenin Nagar and took nine persons into custody for interrogation. Those taken into custody were earlier involved in robberies, attention diversions, automobiles and cellphone thefts and chain snatchings.
The police also seized 24 motorcycles, four autos, 62 liquor bottles and two domestic gas cylinders, police said, adding that some 200 police personnel participated in the operation supervised by LB Nagar DCP Iqbal. The suspects are identified as Jatavath Suresh Naik, 23, of Leninnagar, Balapur crossroads under Saroornagar mandal of Ranga Reddy district; Kethavat Raghu, 25, painter; Erlapally Jagadeep alias Chinna, 19, plumber; Miriyala Sudhakar, 39, HUDA colony; Devula Durgesh, 23, painter; Sukanya alias Padma, wife of Amarnath, 55; Mudavath Anil alias Raja, 18, water supplier, HUDA colony; M Sandeep, 24, kirana shop owner and Sundar, 25 of Bandagpet village.
Meerpet police circle inspector has some 200 police officers participated in the search operation. The sleuths pf Meerpet and Hayatnagar police stations were looking into their complicity in property offences. (NSS)
