SDPI hails AAP, congratulates Kejriwal for decimating BJP

The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), has hailed the spectacular triumph of the Aam Aadmi Party, (AAP), in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, the results of which were announced on Monday.

SDPI national president A. Sayeed in a statement has congratulated AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for decimating BJP which has been flying high on the media hype of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who from a “Chaiwala” in the last nine months transformed himself to become a “Dus-lakh-ka-Sootwala”.

Sayeed said that Modi as a Prime Minister did not have the courtesy to invite Kejriwal to the Republic Day parade. Now the people of Delhi have forced Modi to call Kejriwal and congratulate him. In just nine months Gujarat model & Gujarati leaders, Modi & Amit Shah, have been thoroughly and rejected.

He said AAP’s hurricane win, which in fact is tsunami for the BJP and its cohorts, is triumph of the common man. It is triumph of democracy and triumph of secularism. The flame of hope begins to flicker again. Indians have rejected the politics of megalomaniacs. In the BJP jargon “Acche din to ab aaye hain” for the common man (Aam Aadmi).

The statement said that Delhi has announced in no uncertain terms that “Vikas” of Modi is nothing but the development of the corporate, that too of a few corporate friends. Delhi has instead endorsed Kejriwal’s “Vikaas” of “Aam Aadmi”.

A party, which is interested only in a communal-cum-corporate agenda, which keeps the majority away from the fruits of “development”, is bound to fail in a big democracy which India is, the statement stated.

Sayeed said that Modi’s deafening silence over Hindutva forces antics of “Ghar Wapsi”; eulogising Nathuram Godse, the killer of Mahatma Gandhi; hateful speeches by Union ministers against the minorities, especially Muslims and Christians, has undone BJP in Delhi polls to the status of near non-entity. With score of 3 in its kitty in Delhi polls it is in fact “Ghar Wapsi” for BJP which, it may be recalled, could muster just 2 seats in the Lok Sabha elections after the 1971 Bangladesh war. Even the parting short from the US President Barack Obama has failed to stir the conscious of Modi and he continues to look the other way.

SDPI chief said that for the Congress, which has been totally routed by drawing blank in the Delhi polls after debacles in 2014 Lok Sabha and state assemblies’ elections; it was the last chance to redeem itself. However, Congress continues to be day dreaming.

Sayeed said that Congress should also learn the lesson that by merely opposing BJP on the ground of communalism, it cannot sustain forever its historical role in India. If Congress has to resuscitate itself, it will have to abandon extreme liberalism and hidden communalism, with which a large number of its party leaders and advisors are afflicted with.

However it is to be noted that Aam Aadmi Party is not a total solution for the problems our nation faces now, Sayeed added. Its ideology does not address the problems faced by the Indian poor. It does not discuss influence of foreign hands on our economy, administration and politics. It does not discuss the intelligence rule prevailing in India and the ‘deep state’ formed in our nation by way of draconian laws and opaque rule of law.

Any how, SDPI earnestly hopes Kejriwal would hold his office of trust with humility, honesty, generosity and justice for all. AAP should go for overall inclusive development so that the common man heaves a sigh of relief. (pervezbari@eth.net)
