Gangtok, April 04: The first day of the 48-hour Sikkim bandh called by the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) paralysed normal life in the state today.
School, colleges were closed, shops and business establishments downed their shutters while banks and offices reported no attendance.
Most of the vehicles were also off the road in the state.
Police said there was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the state.
SDF supporters across the state took out rallies in their respective areas.
The SDF had called the 48-hour bandh demanding Income Tax exemption for left-out communities of the state, seat reservation for Limbo and Tamang communities among other demands.
