Scribes will get free houses: KCR

Perhaps for the first time, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here on Wednesday announced that he would build a posh journalists colony with spacious and modern two-bedroom houses for journalists free of cost in Warangal so that Hyderabad journalists should get envious by seeing at latest facilities.

Talking to mediapersons, the Chief Minister announced amidst wild applause that the government will bear entire expenses for the Journalists Housing facility and the scribes need not pay a rupee. He said, “I will lay a foundation stone in February and complete construction of journalists housing colony in 11 months and get them registered on the names of wives of the scribes free of cost.

It is pertinent to note here that KCR recently told mediapersons in Hyderabad that he would prefer to offer housing facility in prime locality of the city instead of giving them on the outskirts. KCR also vowed to provide similar Journalist housing facilities in Hyderabad and other districts too.

Stating that he would be in-charge for the project to come up in 50 to 60 acres to accommodate some 600 to 1000 scribes, KCR said there are no big or small journalists and we treat all of them equally”. Suggesting to avoid differences of multiple associations, the Chief Minister sought a single list of all the journalists who work at the field, including writing scribes, videographers, photographers and anchoring and others. To be built on a sprawling campus the journalist colony would have modern facilities like internet, community hall, market, shopping complex and others. “Journalists welfare is paramount for us and they must cover the government affairs of development completely”, he exhorted.
