Hyderabad, January 19: The Transport Minister, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana, today reacted positively to the request of the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation (APWJF) to provide concessional travel facility to journalists in Garuda (Volvo) and inter-state services of the APSRTC all over the State.
According to a press release, a delegation of APWJF led by its president, Mr M S Hashmi, and the secretary, Mr P Shanker, met the Transport Minister in his chamber in the Secretariat and presented a memorandum requesting concessional travel facility to the journalists in Garuda (Volvo) and inter-State services of APSRTC. Positively reacting to the request of the federation, the Minister spoke with the APSRTC authorities concerned over phone on the spot and announced that the journalists could avail the concessional travel facility in Garuda (Volvo) and inter-State services of APSRTC soon.
The accredited journalists, who have the facility of traveling on concessional charge of one-third fare, will be eligible to travel in Garuda (Volvo) and inter-state services of APSRTC with the same concession. Earlier, the journalists had no facility of “fare concession” for Garuda (Volvo) and inter-State services.
The APWJF, in its representation, requested the government to provide the above facilities to the journalists. The minister conceded the request of the Federation to provide free travel facility to the accredited journalists of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts in the special buses running to Shamshabad Airport and Chilkur.
The APWJF has thanked the Transport Minister for conceding the genuine long-pending demand of the journalists.
